The sweetest thing

Yeah, so, I have a lot of amazing women in my life.

I really do.

At the bridal shower on Saturday, 30-plus women took over DH and Coach’s apartment for my bridal shower. I was blown away by all the love and support. I was/am truly touched.

At one point during the party, I looked around the apartment and it was positively packed with smart, funny, interesting, beautiful ladies. They are writers, editors, photographers, property managers, financial gurus, nurses, graphic designers, public relations masters, movie theater managers … They are brilliant. They are driven. They are professional. They are creative. They are talented. They are hilarious. They are my people. They are my ladies. I love them all dearly, and I’m so grateful that they came to the bridal shower and gave me a hug and told me that they are happy for me. It means more to me than I can properly express.

Speaking of awesome ladies … The lovely and amazing Brighton made party favors for the shower, and I just had to share them here. They are chocolate bars with specifically designed labels.

Come on! How cute are those candy bars?! Pretty fuckin’ cute, right?!

Big thank you to DH and Coach for opening up their home for the party. Crazy props to Brighton for trying to do games with 30-plus ladies running around and yapping. Thank you to good buddy Tiff for the Star Wars decorations and for bringing me a plate of food, and thanks to good buddy Karen for the delicious Star Wars cupcakes (David just ate the rest of them today). Thank you to good buddy Corso for getting me to the party on time and for the “gourmet” pasta salad (it’s gourmet because it had artichoke hearts in it, right?).

Thank you to my family, who don’t venture into SF that often and had to fight their way through the St. Patrick’s Day parade traffic only to arrive in the Inner Richmond and fight for parking spaces.

And thank you to all the ladies  and came out to celebrate the special day! It was an honor.

Oh, and I was sent home with so much red wine … Well, it might take me an entire month to drink it all.

I'm a writer/podcaster/mother/goober in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, go on adventures with my mighty, mighty good man David and my awesome autistic son, Calvin, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.
