Fun with High School David and Sonia

Yeah, so, today David and I were cleaning up the apartment when I found this high school photo of David. I am convinced that High School David would not have dated High School Sonia, who did not go out on a single date in during her high school career.

Here’s my re-enactment of how a conversation between High School David and High School Sonia would have gone, if we had actually gone to the same high school:

“Oh, hi David. I didn’t know you had your locker here in B-wing. Not that I know you have your locker here. … I’m just looking for my friend … Funny, bumping into you.”

“Do I know you?”

“Yeah, I sit behind you in English. I have sat behind you in English for four years. We shared a copy of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ once.”

“Oh, right. Well, I don’t want to be late for class. See ya.”

“Oh, of course, except it’s lunch time, but yeah, OK, see you later, David.”

I'm a writer/podcaster/mother/goober in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, go on adventures with my mighty, mighty good man David and my awesome autistic son, Calvin, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

  1. I didn’t go on dates in high school. We all just hooked up with each other.

Anyway, don’t be skeptical of his “late for class” excuse – maybe he has lunch B.

  2. personaly I think you would have made a cute couple back then. Wow Sonia what big hair you have…I always thought it was so beautiful back then, course i love the look you have now too.

  3. I’d have slammed the both of you into the lockers, and then have gone out to the big tree and groped a cheerleader.

  4. Nah, he was just as sweet and sincere in high school. He would have loved you then, too, but you would have had to wait in line — David was always true to his girl. Love the hs photos!

Leave a comment, you guys. It's fun!
