No dice, bus driver

Yeah, so, I have fuzzy dice hanging from my rear-view mirror in my Saturn.

Why? I bought them a long time ago, because I thought it was funny to have fuzzy dice in a Saturn. Also, they helped me recognize which car was mine in a parking lot, because I think all cars look the same.

So anyway, this morning I was driving to work, and while I was stopped at red light a bus pulled up next to me. The driver started opening and closing the door. Reluctantly, I looked over, and he motioned for me to roll down my window. I prepared myself for the usual “Hey Red, check this out” or “Your brake light is out.”

Bus driver: “Hey, you know what they say about girls with fuzzy dice in their cars?”

Me: “No.”

Bus driver: “All of your fantasies are not being fulfilled.”

Me: “They’re not?”

Bus driver: “That’s what it means.”

Me: “Then I better take these down, because I’m all good.”

Bus driver: “You’re gonna take them down?”

Me: “I guess I have to, don’t I? I don’t want to mislead anyone.”

I didn’t really take them down, of course, but I am thinking about replacing them with these …

I believe these dice say that all my fantasies are being fulfilled, and they involve role playing games.

I'm a writer/podcaster/mother/goober in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, go on adventures with my mighty, mighty good man David and my awesome autistic son, Calvin, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.
