I’m like Carrot Top but my prop is cancer

Yeah, so, IGN is asking a very serious question: “Can Cancer Be Funny?

Of course, all the entertainment sites are pondering this question because of the new Showtime series, “The Big C,” starring Laura Linney. I haven’t seen the show yet. I don’t get Showtime so I probably won’t be seeing it anytime soon. But I’m going to go out on a limb and say, “Yes, cancer can be funny.”

Exhibit A:

Laughing in cancer’s face

Exhibit B:

She’s got it all … even cancer

Exhibit C:

A funny thing happened on the way to the operating room

Exhibit D:

I’d rather get a boot to the head

My husband even started a Twitter account for my cancertastic boob.

I could go on and on. Basically, I’ve made nonstop breast cancer jokes for almost a year now. I’m like Carrot Top but my prop is cancer.

This is Someecard I sent people after telling them I had breast cancer.

Author: The Sonia Show

I'm a writer/podcaster/mother/goober in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, go on adventures with my mighty, mighty good man David and my awesome autistic son, Calvin, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

  1. I did the same thing for awhile after The Great Removal. HA HA I HAVE NO GUTS HA

But then when I went to work I stopped talking about it (so much) … It seemed to be a thing I could only joke about with friends!

Leave a comment, you guys. It's fun!
