Yeah, so, I’ve only seen 12 new movies this year, so this shouldn’t be too hard.
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
- Toy Story 3
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
- The People vs. George Lucas
- The Runaways
- Iron Man 2
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Hot Tub Time Machine
So, yeah, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” was my favorite movie this year. You wanna make something of it? I fuckin’ loved that movie. I thought it was visually cool and super hilarious. I haven’t seen another movie like it … ever.
I would like to point out that “Hot Tub Time Machine” is the worst new movie I saw this year. If I saw 13 new movies this year, but still made a top 12 list, it would not have made the cut. My sister, however, thinks “Hot Tub Time Machine” is the funniest movie since “Pineapple Express” … another movie I didn’t think was very good.
Obviously, as a self-proclaimed movie nerd the fact that I have seen only 12 new movies this year is pretty damn shameful. BUT, in my defense, I was kinda busy this year kicking cancer’s ass and planning a wedding. I have several New Year’s resolutions for 2011, including eat crappy, exercise less, start smoking and see more movies.
I am planning on seeing a few more before the year is over. Mighty, mighty good man David is all about the new “Tron” movie. End of line. And, I am aching to see “True Grit,” which includes two of my favorite things: westerns and the Coen Brothers. Both movies star The Dude, and we abide.
The above list represents the 12 new movies I saw this year. For the record, I did see a lot of other movies. I saw several classic films, including “Singin’ in the Rain,” a few Marx Brothers movies and countless silent films starring Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton. So there.
