I’m just not that into you, American Idol

Yeah, so, I wrote about why I am quitting “American Idol” in this week’s The Dork Side.

David thinks I will fall off the wagon by Hollywood Week. “Oh, American Idol. I can’t quit you.” I am hoping to stay strong. Do they make some sort of patch or gum for quitting a reality show? I think the key will be finding better shows or movies to watch instead … or maybe actually leaving the apartment.

One of the things I forgot to mention in the column is that “American Idol” is a serious time vampire, sucking up a lot of time. I think it’s on four hours this week. I think there was a week last season in which it was on for six hours. I’m hoping I can use this new free time to watch shows such as “Breaking Bad” or, perhaps, see more movies. Also, did you know that David has never seen “The Wire?” For shame!

I'm a writer/mocker/goober/mother in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, podcast, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.
