What’s for lunch?

Yeah, so, I packed a lunch today.

Right now I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself.

So, yeah, when I was a kid, my mom let us pick out a new lunchbox before the start of every school year. I think it was an attempt to get us excited about school. It failed. But, I did love picking out a new lunchbox.

Here’s a list of lunchboxes I had as a kid, surprisingly none of them were Star Wars related:

  • Muppet Show
  • Hong Kong Phooey
  • Scooby-Doo
  • Mork & Mindy
  • Snoopy
  • Battlestar Galactica

I didn’t have this one, but I kinda wish I did:

What were they thinking with that one? Also, I saw one of the TV show “Taxi.” What kid was watching “Taxi?”

Do you remember what lunchboxes you had? Tell me in the comments.

I'm a writer/podcaster/mother/goober in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, go on adventures with my mighty, mighty good man David and my awesome autistic son, Calvin, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

  1. Strawberry Shortcake and two Peanuts ones stand out. I feel like neither of those defined me.

  2. I remember a lunch box I had in kindergarten (maybe even pre-school) from a 70’s show called “Emergency!” It was sweet, kind of shaped like an ambulance or something, if I remember right. It had the thermos and the little metal arm to hold the thermos. Here, I found one on eBay. Wow, I didn’t quite remember the potentially dead victim lying on the ground on the front, or the nude hospital patient on the bottom either.

  3. I had Bobby Sherman and I think Scooby Doo…. love the Star Wars. Got that from Williams-Sonoma? I bought the cookies for Allen to bring in to work if I don’t eat them first.

  4. The only one I can remember is Battle of the Planets. I love Gentle Ben though. That’s awesome. Haha!

Leave a comment, you guys. It's fun!
