Math is hard

Yeah, so, this T-shirt has me all bent out of shape today.

This shirt was being sold at JCPenney in the Girls Department. What a great message to send to girls ages 7 to 16. Being smart is for boys. Girls just need to be pretty.

I read an article about it on Jezebel today. Of course, after being alerted by the media that the shirt is offensive, it is no longer being sold.  I love that the media had to tell them it was offensive. No one at JCPenney thought the shirt was offensive?! They needed some reporters to point it out. Really?

This is wrong on pretty much every level. Either:

A) No one (specifically not one woman) at JCPenney said, “Hey, this shirt is offensive. It’s bullshit.”

B) Someone did speak up but they were ignored by the highers-up.

So, which is it, JCPenney? Are you a bunch of clueless dumb asses or sexist assholes?

The whole thing reminds me of an episode of “The Simpsons.” Well, everything reminds me of an episode of “The Simpsons.”

I'm a writer/mocker/goober/mother in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, podcast, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

  1. “Can you dumb that down for me?”

UGH. I’m going to burn my bra now, yes.

  2. Speechless…I’m speechless. Maybe it can be combined with a pair of pants that say “JUICY” across the butt to complete the vapid, no thinking parents look.
