The Sonia Show

Writer. Mocker. Beer drinker. Old movie watcher. Mother. Goober.

Don’t judge me

Yeah, so, here’s where I get all mommy blogger on you and write about Spawn’s busy weekend. Please don’t click away or delete your RSS feed or bookmark or whatever. I’ll write about booze or TV or naked ladies or something next time, I promise.

On Saturday, we dressed the boy up like a dog and took him to the dog show at the Cow Palace. Think I’m joking? See for yourself.

Why did we dress him up like a dog? Because we’re awesome parents, obviously.

As we do every year, we had a great time at the dog show. Of course, this year, we had an even better time because we discovered there’s a bar in the Cow Palace. I know, right? So, we got to walk around with booze and pet really cute dogs. It was the happiest place on earth. Suck it, Disneyland.

Of course, the boy fell asleep at the dog show.

Another we told all the dogs we love them, we went to the Broken Record, which as you have read on this blog a million times, is the site my last first date with mighty, mighty good man David. And, once again, I would like to mention that they have one of our favorite burgers in San Francisco. They grind bacon into the meat. Drool, drool.

We take great joy in introducing people to Broken Record. Unfortunately, our friends got a false impression of the joint, because it was insanely packed. We got their early to grab a drink before the restaurant opened. Good thing we did because 30 minutes before the restaurant opened, the lined stretched all the way to the bar’s front door. Apparently, Broken Record’s episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” aired on Friday and Saturday again. Never underestimate the power of Guy Fieri. That place was so busy they ran out of food.

Of course, even a crowded bar didn’t stop the boy from falling asleep.

On Sunday, David and I saw three movies at Noir City, including the original “Maltese Falcon,” “City Streets” with a dreamy Gary Cooper, and “Mr. Dynamite.” We had a great time hanging out at the Castro Theatre all day with good buddies Beegs and Sass.

Meanwhile, Calvin had a great time hanging out with his Aunt Michelle and his cousins Lorelei and Lucy. See?

And yes, he is wearing his San Francisco Giants gear.

I'm a writer/mocker/goober/mother in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, podcast, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

What about a piece on boozing naked ladies watching TV?
