The Spawn likes me

Yeah, so, the Spawn likes me. He really likes me.

Back in April I wrote a blog post about how Calvin is a daddy’s boy. He was ignoring me, refusing to make room for me to sit next to him on the couch and even opting to kiss the dog’s ass rather than kiss me. It was hurtful, but I understood that kids kinda play favorites and their favorites change.

I was talking to a friend the other day and he asked if I was still having a hard time with Calvin being a daddy’s boy, and I said no. Honestly, I hadn’t even thought about it in a long time. At some point, I don’t know exactly when, things changed.

I would say that David is still his favorite, but Calvin isn’t giving me the cold shoulder anymore. We snuggle on the couch together, and he loves it when we rock in the chair and read. We love to make silly faces at each other and laugh. And when we go out into public he will even hold my hand like he’s not embarrassed to be seen with me. See?

I'm a writer/mocker/goober/mother in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, podcast, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.

Leave a comment, you guys. It's fun!
