Yeah, so, mighty, mighty good man David and I are lucky in that we get to take time off from work around the holidays. We’ve both been on vacation since Dec. 20, which is a good thing, because we’ve been busy not seeing Santa Claus and what not.
We had a really wonderful Christmas, thanks for asking. We bought the Spawn a train set, and it was a big hit. He also got a ton of clothes (badly needed) and Elmo-related things (not so badly needed but loved by him).
Not surprisingly, we spend a lot of time in Concord during the holidays. We spent Christmas at my folks’ house, where – surprisingly, but thankfully – “Duck Dynasty” was never brought up.
The next day we went back to Concord, where David’s mother, Bette, was interviewing for an apartment. Of course, she got the apartment, because – duh – she’s awesome. It’s a great place! It’s right off Todos Santos Plaza, which is the main town square in Concord. There’s a little playground, a Half-Price Books and several restaurants, including an Old Spaghetti Factory, which I know you are going to pretend you don’t love, but if you search your heart you know that’s a lie. Plus, there’s a Starbucks and a Peet’s, so yeah, it’s got it all.
Todo Santos Plaza also includes EJ Phair, which is a pretty decent brewpub, and right next door to it a new bottle shop/taproom Hop Grenade is opening. Plus, Ale Industries is opening a taproom nearby. Hellooooo nurse! We’re going to be visiting Bette a lot, I suspect.
Side note: In Todos Santos Plaza is there is a huge banner hanging in the square that says, “Concord: Where Families Come First.” WTF?! Where do families come second?
“Concord: Where families come first, not like those assholes in Walnut Creek … “
And on that note … Happy New Year, you guys!
