Yeah, so, The Boy loves dogs.
Not surprising, I guess. He’s been around a dog his entire life. See?
Homer is a tolerant dog. Calvin chases him, throws things at him, takes his toys and hits him for no reason. But Homer keeps coming back for more, because he loves The Boy. Also, The Boy usually has food. Oh, and sometimes Calvin is very sweet to him. Homer knows what’s up.
Calvin is so used to dogs being around that he gets really excited when he sees other dogs. He wants to pet them and give them kisses. Of course, this can be scary. Sometimes we’re walking through a park, and he wants to run up to a strange dog, and we have to stop him. We’re trying to teach him not to approach strange dogs, and I worry that some day I’m not going to get to him fast enough. Cats? I don’t worry about them. Calvin wants to pet and kiss them, too, but cats will make a run for it. Also, Calvin can deal with a cat scratch, and dog bite is way more serious. No offense, cats.
One of the things Calvin loves about going to my sister’s place is she has three dogs. One of the dogs is a little chihuahua, Rock Man, and it hates all kids’ guts, and that’s because kids have no boundaries. They pull ears and tails, etc. I get it, Rock Man. I dated guys like that. The other two dogs, Cozy and Roxie, are the most patient, sweet dogs on the planet.
These pictures of Calvin and Cozy are current favorites of mine. Something about them just warms my heart.
Don’t feel too bad for Roxie. You should see what my niece Lorelei does to her in the name of entertainment.
