Yeah, so, we ain’t afraid of no ghost in this week’s Pop Show podcast.
For your listening pleasure, I am tripping all over myself to get up on my soapbox and complain about dudes who complain about female Ghostbusters. I get super ranty on this podcast in a way that I haven’t before, because that shit really annoys me.
The backlash against this movie — a movie that no one has even seen yet — really steams up my tail.
There are the obvious assholes who really think there cannot be female Ghostbusters, because vaginas, I guess. Also, apparently they don’t know that Ghostbusters are not a real thing. Shhh, don’t tell ‘em the truth. Then there are the jerks who think they are being sly. They already hate the reboot not because it features an all-female cast but because “Ghostbusters” is a sacred movie that shouldn’t be rebooted. Those dudes are liars. They seem to be totally fine with seeing every reboot and remake of “Batman,” “Superman” and “Spider-Man” but apparently not “Ghostbusters. Riiight.
“You’re ruining my childhood.” Well, “Ghostbusters” is part of my childhood, too, and I’m excited to see female “Ghostbusters.” Don’t like it? Don’t go see it. I know that you are a special, little snowflake, but not every movie is made just for you.
So anyway, watch your step. Don’t trip on my soapbox.
Other random things discussed in this week’s podcast:
- Sony is considering a “21 Jump Street”/“Men In Black” crossover — seriously.
- The idea of a “Venom” movie, and if you don’t know who Venom is then that means you didn’t see “Spider-Man 3” … LUCKY!
- The idea that people actually care about Luke Skywalker’s sexuality.
