Dorking Out Episode 14: The Magnificent Seven, South Park, Simpsons And More

Yeah, so, I did a lot of research for this week’s “Dorking Out,” so you should definitely listen.

We review “The Magnificent Seven,” starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt. After I saw it in the theater, I came home and watched the 1960 “The Magnificent Seven,” starring Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen. AND THEN, I watched Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai” from 1954. I know, right? Dedication!

So which one is the best? Umm, “Seven Samurai” is the best, obviously. There’s a reason it’s a classic. It’s an amazing movie. What did I think about the new “Magnificent Seven?” You’ll have to listen to find out.

We also do a status check on “The Simpsons” and “South Park,” which both kicked off the new seasons. Plus, we chat about how superheroes in recent movies don’t have theme music anymore. All of that, plus our favorite headlines of the week, and Smith brags about his Emmys again by sharing some really helpful tips on how to win an Emmy.

You can listen to us here, or you can find us on iTunes, Stitcher and YouTube. If you listen to the show, I’d love to hear what you think. You can comment here, or on our website or Facebook page.

I'm a writer/mocker/goober/mother in San Francisco who likes to drink beer, shop, laugh and make other people laugh, podcast, watch old movies, feed my unhealthy obsession with pop culture, kick breast cancer's ass, wear orange and root for the San Francisco Giants, participate in general jackass-ery, talk about TV, eavesdrop on strangers' conversations, make nerdy “Star Wars” and “Simpsons” references, and post personal things about myself on the web for all to read, which makes me some sort of literary exhibitionist.
